Challenge Kickoff: Administrators and Character Education Liaisons receive challenge overview and information to take back to schools. |
| February 27, 2009 |
Challenge overview and rules are provided systemwide in the Superintendent’s Bulletin. |
February 27, 2009 to
March 27, 2009 |
Planning: Students will utilize the Wiki to develop ideas and engage in conversations about character. |
March 27, 2009 to
April 26, 2009 |
Development: Participants create original artwork that encompasses the ideas of the new BCPS Character Objectives. |
| April 27, 2009 |
Participants submit artwork to art teacher. Art teachers will review “opt out” forms for participating students. |
| April 28, 2009 to May 5, 2009 |
The designated art teacher(s) from each school will assemble a panel of school-based judges to review and critique artworks using the provided art rubric. Each panel of school based judges will select 5 challenge winners from its school. |
| May 5, 2009 to May 12, 2009 |
Media specialists take digital images of artwork and upload them to Wiki. |
| May 12, 2009 to May 26, 2009 |
All artwork is available on Wiki for viewing, comments, and popular vote. |
| June 2, 2009 |
Highest ranked artwork based on popular vote will be judged in three categories: elementary, middle, and high. Winners will be notified. |
September 20, 2009 to
October 1, 2009 |
Challenge winners will be recognized and prizes will be awarded at the annual BCPS Safe Schools Conference. Winning artwork will be exhibited at the conference and used to promote character education throughout Baltimore County. |
