Below is a checklist for your use in implementing the Beyond Words Challenge.   Go to the bottom of this page for directions and support to upload images to Bubble Share and to this wiki.

Administrators

ü     Meet with character education liaison, library media specialist, and art teachers to discuss the school-based implementation of
the “Beyond Words” Visual Media Challenge.

ü     Designate an art teacher to take a leadership role in facilitating the Challenge.  This person will be your “go to” person for the Challenge and the “go to” person for other teachers and the students who elect participate.

ü     Distribute information about the Challenge to your school and school community through daily announcements, distribution of flyers, parent and faculty newsletters, web address distribution, etc.

ü     Encourage teacher and student participation in the Challenge.

Media Specialists

ü     Provide technical support for all wiki-related information and needs.  The first question you will be asked after "How do I use this really cool tool?" is "How do I manage the email notifications every time any user makes a change?"; the tutorial below shows you how to change notifications.  You can change the notifications for the Beyond Words Challenge wiki to Never because we monitor it for you.

Designated Art Teacher

ü     Acts as a funnel for challenge information and updates to and from the administration and teachers.

Directions to Upload Images to Bubble Share and to the This Wiki

(recorded webinar and printed directions)

Although the next step for library media specialists in the Beyond Words Challenge - uploading students’ entries - is not due until May 5th, we wanted to share the information with you in advance because we know that you have many things on your plate.  To upload students’ entries to the Beyond Words Challenge wiki, we have chosen a Web 2.0 tool, BubbleShare.  We selected it because it is easy to use; even easier to learn; and will cut the time for uploading the artwork from twenty minutes to five.  In addition, you will not have to resize images or worry about file formats.  There are three ways to learn BubbleShare:

  1. Print the directions and follow the steps  AND/OR
  2. Watch the training session by clicking on this link.  (NOTE: Once it loads, click the small play arrow at the top left to view this recording.)http://safarilive.bcps.org/onsync/join.php?id=9dec2884c8ae048365465df29e56ee83&afid=&pw=uiwiphos&r=

, and then the F11 key on your keyboard.  If you can not see the entire screen, then, click the box in the lower left hand corner to center the image AND/OR
  3. Call the office and we will be happy to walk you through the steps.

We also encourage you to call if you are feeling overwhelmed because of testing or other issues; remember that our job is to support you so that you can continue to integrate 21st Century Skills and make wonderful things happen for our students.
